Slow Cooker Garlic Rosemary Whole Chicken

This slow cooker whole chicken is easy and full of awesome flavors. Made in the ease of a crockpot, it is a simple dinner staple and the leftover chicken can be used in so many other ways.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pound whole chicken rinsed
  • 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup broth or stock
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 1 large yellow onion peeled and cut into rings
  • 1 head of garlic cut in half
  • 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary or to taste

Instructions

  • Arrange onions and garlic at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • Add 2 sprigs of rosemary on top of the onions and garlic.
  • Remove the giblets from the chicken and then lay it in the slow cooker on top of the onions, garlic and rosemary.
  • Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the chicken.
  • Break apart the remaining rosemary pieces and arrange on top of chicken.
  • Pour bone broth/stock around chicken in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours OR on low for 7-8 hours. Chicken is done when meat is falling off the bone and has an internal temperature of 165℉
  • Remove chicken from slow cooker, remove meat from the bone and enjoy warm! Store leftovers in fridge for up to 4 days. Make sure to save the bones to make homemade bone broth in your slow cooker!
