Sesame Ginger Tuna Steaks (Whole30)
Sesame Ginger Tuna Steaks are an at-home date night favorite around my house….always with a side of pinot noir and laughter.

Our family tradition
My husband and I have this adorable weekly tradition (okay fine, sometimes it ends up being bi-weekly) of planning, executing, and savoring an “at-home date night”. We live 3000 miles from our families and all of our friends are equally busy and exhausted mamas and papas.
Nights out alone are rare and usually reserved for birthdays, anniversaries, or work social events. However, we refuse to let our lack of a regular babysitter steal the romance out of our relationship.
Romance, after all, is not defined by being able to leave your home, but rather by being able to focus on the one you love in an intimate (physically or mentally) way. So, we get creative and break out the romance and wine once the little one has been kissed goodnight.
At-home date nights
At-home date nights can be as simple or as fancy as you make them. Light a few candles. Buy a nice bottle of wine. Play a silly board game (nothing gets conversation, playful debates, and laughter going quite like Scrabble). Watch a new movie.
Order take-out or (my and my husband’s personal favorite) cook a meal together. Food and love are deeply connected and the act of preparing a meal for someone you love is one of the oldest ways so show affection.
I don’t blame you if you don’t want to slave away in the kitchen or make a pile of dishes after the little ones have been tucked in, but you also don’t have to have a perfectly beautiful and romantic dinner.
Tuna steaks for a meal
There is something beautiful and elegant about tuna steaks for a meal. I’m not sure if it’s the way it looks on the plate or because it is something many people opt to order at a restaurant instead of making in their homes, but a tuna steak on my plate makes me see all the heart eyes.
However, I refuse to reserve my love affair with tuna for the special occasions that I actually eat at a restaurant. And I don’t have to! Making a beautiful tuna steak in the coziness of my own kitchen is not only easy, but flavorful and fast.
