A Note from Taesha:
There is something magical about ranch dressing and veggies together when it comes to kids! Nothing inspires them or makes them quite as brave to try a new veggie as when there is a bowl of ranch dressing by their side for dipping. And did you know that making your own, squeaky-clean and healthy ranch dressing at home is ridiculously simple? It totally is! It takes just a few minutes of your time and some real food ingredients that I bet you already have kicking around your kitchen.
As I continue to plug away on my ebook, my dear friend, Kristen from Living Loving Paleo has generously offered to share her recipes for her amazing Paleo Ranch Dressing with the TNN community.
If you don’t already follow Kristen, I highly recommend you start! Her recipes are on point. Her positive energy is contagious. And Kristen’s remarkable story about treating her Crohn’s disease with real food is nothing short of inspiring. You can connect with Kristen on her blog, Instagram, and Facebook.
Now, take it away Kristen!
One of my absolute favorite parts about this world of blogging is the amazing friendships that have come out of it – and Taesha is definitely one of them! Taesha is just as sweet and genuine in real life as you already know her to be online, and she’s not just an incredible friend, but she’s also one amazing momma as well! I’m so grateful to be able to guest post over here while she’s working on a big project to share with all of you!
When it comes to eating real food, homemade sauces have been the absolute game changer for me! That’s exactly why I created my eBook, Get Sauced, with all of my most delicious and easiest sauce recipes! They’re so easy to create and they make even the most boring and bland food insanely delicious! They’re how I stay sane when my days are extra awesomely-scheduled, and I need to get real food on the table FAST.
Ranch dressing was the only sauce that I’d eat as a kid (I didn’t even like ketchup!), so of course I had to recreate my own version as an adult, made without any junky ingredients. This sauce is one of my absolute favorites and one that I always have a batch of ready in my fridge! I prefer my ranch on the thicker side, but if you’d like a thinner, more pourable ranch dressing, simply stir in coconut milk or almond milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until you’ve reached your desired consistency.
If you’re using fresh herbs in this ranch dressing, it’ll last up to a week in the fridge. If you’re using all dried herbs and garlic powder, the dressing will expire on the same day that your egg does. I often used dried herbs so that I can make a double, or even triple batch to have on hand.
I use an immersion blender to make my homemade, mayo-based sauces, as it’s fool-proof and much easier than slowly drizzling the oil into your regular blender. It’s become one of my favorite kitchen appliances, and I highly recommend it!
Enjoy this recipe for my Paleo Ranch Dressing!
- 2/3 cup avocado oil (or any light tasting oil will work)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill, minced (or 2 teaspoons dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced (or 1 ½ teaspoons dried)
- 3/4 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced (or ¼ teaspoon garlic powder)
Store in an airtight container in the fridge. If you’re using fresh herbs, the dressing will last up to a week in the fridge. If you’re using all dried herbs and garlic powder, the dressing will expire on the same day that your egg does!
If you’d like a thinner, more pourable ranch dressing, simply stir in coconut milk or almond milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until you’ve reached your desired consistency.
