Q3: The school lunchbox photos you share on Instagram are so inspiring. The lunches always look inviting and nourishing. How do you approach packing real food lunches for your daughter?
Thank you for your kind words! We have gone through different “seasons” of how to approach lunches boxes depending on my daughter. We have always invited her to have a say in what went into her lunch box, such as “do you want a muffin or a sandwich?” or “what fruit would you like to pack today?”. Guiding questions that still helped her feel empowered.
Now that she is older (8 years old) we give her the responsibility for packing her own lunches. She knows from years of practice to pack a fruit, a veggie, a healthy fat and protein. We have spent a while teaching her what falls under each category, so she knows what to pick and even had a cheat sheet on the fridge for reference for her.
