Are you guys bracing yourself for the sugar rush of Halloween? Yeah, me too. There are so many festive treats out there that simply call to little (and big people) as Halloween creeps closer. It can difficult to keep holiday sugar and processed foods to minimum while still trying to enjoy the holiday, however with a little creativity and a brief chopping session in the kitchen, a healthier Halloween alternative can oh-so easily be your’s.
My friends, meet the clementine “pumpkin”.
What you see is pretty much what you get with these puppies. They don’t look like anything complicated or fancy because they aren’t! Just a peeled a clementine with a little slice of celery stuck in the middle to represent a stem. So easy, yet kiddos go gaga over them! Why? Because they are adorable and unexpected! So step away from that yucky candy corn and send these in for your kiddo’s Halloween party instead
Ingredients
1 dozen clementines
1 large or two medium stalks of celery
Directions:
- Carefully peel the clementines so that the fruit’s segments stay intact in the shape of the clementine. Once all the clementines are peels, arrange in a single layer on a plate and set aside.
- Wash and dry celery stalks. Carefully cut the celery into thin pieces that are about 1 inch in length.
- Carefully stick the celery segments into the middle of the peeled clementines. If they fruit’s segments are still intact, the celery should sit firmly in place.
- Cover and store in frdige for up to 24 hours before serving.
