5-Minute Protein Pumpkin Smoothie
This is basically fall in a glass! Made with pumpkin puree, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, the sweetness of ripe banana, a touch of pumpkin pie spice, and your favorite vanilla protein powder, this creamy, dreamy pumpkin smoothie is done in 5 minutes and will keep you full all morning.

We’re in that sweet spot between summer and fall, and this Pumpkin protein smoothie is what I’m reaching for on repeat during this season-straddling time.
School’s back, mornings are busier, and I’m starting to crave those cozy, earthy fall flavors. Enter: smoothies. Forever my go-to for a fast, feel-good breakfast when I’ve got zero prep done.
This one tastes like creamy pumpkin pie filling (but, you know…a smoothie). It’s got staying power thanks to the yogurt, milk, chia seeds, and a scoop of vanilla protein powder…and it comes together in like, 5 minutes (just how I like my weekday breakfasts!). Canned or homemade pumpkin puree both work beautifully, and either way, it’s a cozy little win for your morning. 🍂
Okay, let’s make this smoothie together. Just you and me….

5-Minute Protein Pumpkin Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 large ripe banana, frozen , if not frozen, add a handful of ice cubes to the smoothie
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- ⅓ cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1 Tablespoon chia seeds, optional
- ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup milk , any kind you prefer. I used 2% for mine.
- 1 serving vanilla protein powder, optional, but if you skip, I suggest adding 1-2 Tablespoons maple syrup to balance out the earthy flavor of the pumpkin
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- Pinch of salt, optional; but it really makes the sweetness pop!
- ice, as needed to reach desired consistency
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
- Add more milk or some water if needed for a thinner smoothie or ice cubes for a thicker consistency. If you would like a sweeter smoothie, add more banana or a touch of maple syrup and reblend.
- Portion your smoothie into two glasses and enjoy immediately on its own or topped with some whipped cream.

Yummmmm!! This sounded so good and it did not disappoint! Super quick and delicious, def a new breakfast rotation item for me!
Yay! Music to my ears! Ken + I both really love this summer-meets-fall recipe and I’m glad it was a hit for you too. That pumpkin pie spice 🤌🏻 so key!
Taesha has hit out out of the park again with another fantastic recipe! Pumpkin anything is my go-to in the Fall so when I came across this recipe I was excited. It was SO good! It is creamy and the pumpkin really shines through without being too overpowering. It truly does taste like Fall in a glass. This smoothie also kept me full for a solid 4 hours. I had a bit of leftovers so I’m going to enjoy those today, too. I think this smoothie will be my go-to every Fall season!
I’m so glad you loved this one as much as me, Kayla! Truly is the flavor of fall in such an easy, filling recipe! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Always so appreciated.
My family loves this smoothie! Thanks for the great recipe!
So glad to hear that, Kate! And easy, family-approved, filling breakfast recipe is always SUCH a win!
I love all things pumpkin, but I have never had a PSL 🤣
I knew when I read the ingredient list that I would love this smoothie!
Perfect combo of fall flavors & super quick & easy to pull together.
Thanks for another winner!
Yay! I love this for a quick pumpkin fix too, Tamera! So glad you enjoyed it as much as I do. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.
If I were wearing a blindfold and tried this drink, I would have thought it was just a vanilla smoothie. It’s not bad but not special either.
Oh interesting! I was trying to not overdue the pumpkin spice flavor since it can be intense for some, but maybe others would enjoy more. Thanks for the honest feedback!
Delish! We left out the chia seeds but otherwise followed the recipe as written. Everyone, young and old(er), loved it!
That is so awesome to hear! Glad it was such a win with everyone.
😋 yummy
So glad you enjoyed it, Penny!
Would it be ok maybe give more pumpkin spice flavor if I add premier protien pumpkin spice instead of vanilla protein powder
I don’t have personal experience with that protein flavor but my friend actually made this smoothie with it and said it was great! Let us know if you liked it too!
Looking forward to trying this! Do you have an alternative to the Banana I can use?
You could sub with a little frozen riced cauliflower (I’d say 1/3 cup). It truly disappears into the smoothie and the frozen veg gives the smoothie a nice creaminess to it. However, removing the banana also removes some of the sweetness, so if your protein powder doesn’t sweeten it enough for you, consider adding a little honey.
This was delicious and a great way to use the rest of the can of pumpkin!
Right!? I puts that leftover to good use that is so easy! So glad you enjoyed it too, Lisa!
Wow that is good! I didn’t expect this to be as delicious as it was. Definitely adding this into my smoothie rotation!
What can be used in place of the bananas? This sounds delicious, but I can’t eat bananas. Thank you!
Hi Kelly! The banana adds a natural sweetness as well as a thickening element to the smoothie. If you find your protein powder is sweet enough, you could omit the banana and just add extra ice to help make this thicker (but would be a bit icy) and maybe a touch of maple syrup to up the sweetness.
