When I was a brand spankin’ new blogger some 3 (or is it 4…?) years ago, I was kind of still finding my footing in the world of recipe development. I made a lot of recipes that I would prefer to just forget about and I quite honestly cringe a bit when I see that someone has visited a “newbie recipe”. Like all new things in life, blogging and recipe development was super duper hard before it was easy.
Actually, it still isn’t easy. But I love it. And I love that I can help you guys. So I keep putting one foot in front of the other and creating more recipes.
And while I have many recipes from that oh-so green season of blogging that were total flops, I do have a few that were pretty stinking good and that I continue to make. My Orange Walnut Scones being one of them! They are both grain-free, vegan and egg-free and are really quite yummy. That recipe for sure has some hardcore TNN fans, and while I do love those little scones….I must admit that they remind me a bit more of a breakfast cookie than a scone.
So, when I eyeballed the mountains and mountains of freshly picked oranges at my farmer’s market the other weekend, I became inspired to try my hand again at making that delicious scone recipe a bit more….sconey (that’s totally a word, guys).
And guys, the outcome was totally worth the remake! Perfectly sweet and slightly crumbly, these Scrumptious Paleo Orange Walnut Scones live up to their name! Super easy to make in 1 bowl and perfect for enjoy fresh from the oven, they are my new lazy Saturday morning baking recipe!

- 3/4 cup coconut flour
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/3 cup coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, chilled
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup almond or coconut milk
- 1 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- zest of 1 large orange
- 4 tablespoons fresh orange juice
